Your journey — step by step

The full All on X appointment schedule.

An illustrative schedule of a typical All on X journey, from initial consultation to final zirconia and long-term maintenance. Individual timing and clinical decisions vary; your treating dentist plans the detail.

Pre-surgery
Consultation & pre-surgery

Initial consultation.

Clinical assessment with an AHPRA-registered dentist. Discussion of whether All on X may be suitable for your individual situation, and of alternative treatment options.

Pre-surgery
Diagnostics

3D imagery & pre-surgery paperwork.

Detailed 3D scans, medical history, and pre-surgery paperwork prepared. A written treatment plan with quote is provided for you to consider.

Day 1
Surgery week

Surgery day.

Dental implants are placed in the jawbone under IV sedation or general anaesthetic. A tailored number of implants (typically four to six) is used, selected during planning. Driving is not permitted for 24 hours afterwards, so a support person is required.

Day 2
Trial Smile Fitting (Prototype)

Day 2 — Trial Smile Fitting.

A prototype is tried in so you can see and approve the shape, size and colour of your new smile before the acrylic is finalised. Any adjustments are discussed at this stage. A rest day may be incorporated depending on clinical conditions.

Day 3
Acrylic teeth fitting

Day 3 — Acrylic Teeth Fitting.

Your final acrylic teeth are finalised and fitted. For patients staying with acrylic, this is your functional long-term smile ($19,000 per jaw, 5 years on average with proper care). You leave the surgery week with a fixed set of teeth in place.

Week 4
Review

4-week post-surgery review.

Healing check, oral hygiene guidance specific to All on X, and nightguard fitting where applicable.

Month 3–6
Zirconia fitting (if applicable)

Zirconia Fitting — optional upgrade from acrylic.

Zirconia is an optional upgrade from acrylic ($25,000 per jaw, 10–15 years with proper care). It is fitted over 2–3 appointments: first try-in, second try-in and final permanent insert.

Year 1
Long-term maintenance

6-month oral hygiene check and clean.

A scheduled review to check gum and implant health, and professional clean.

Year 2
Long-term maintenance

2-year All on X deep clean (if required).

A more comprehensive clean where clinically indicated. Long-term outcomes depend on ongoing oral hygiene and regular check-ups.

[Clinical illustration]

All on X is a complex full-arch implant treatment. We encourage everyone considering it to take the time they need to understand the procedure, ask questions, and obtain a second opinion if it would help with their decision.

Independent advice is encouraged.Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. We recommend reviewing the AHPRA dental practitioner register before proceeding with any provider.

Common questions

What patients ask before surgery day.

Are provisional teeth fitted on the same day for everyone?

Where clinical conditions allow, a fixed provisional bridge is fitted on the day of surgery. In some cases (for example, certain bone or soft-tissue findings) the provisional is delayed for clinical reasons. Suitability is confirmed during planning.

Do I need a support person?

Yes. Driving is not permitted for at least 24 hours following sedation. A support person must accompany you and assist with travel home.

How much time off work is needed?

5–7 days is commonly suggested as a guide. Time off depends on the nature of your work, your individual recovery, and the type of sedation used. Physically demanding work may require longer.

What can I eat after surgery?

A soft-food diet is generally required for 6–8 weeks after your Day 3 acrylic teeth fitting, while implants integrate with bone (osseointegration). Most patients are then able to gradually return to a wider range of foods, subject to clinical advice.

I'm anxious about dental procedures — what options are there?

Discuss your concerns with your treating dentist at consultation. Anaesthesia options include IV sedation and general anaesthetic; both have benefits and risks which will be explained in detail before consent.

What does it cost?

Indicative pricing is $19,000 per jaw for acrylic teeth or $25,000 per jaw for zirconia teeth. Treatment costs vary depending on clinical needs, materials selected and complexity, and are confirmed in a written quote after consultation. Payment plans via Afterpay, Humm, Humm 90 and TLC are subject to lender approval and T&Cs.

What are the risks?

All surgical and invasive procedures carry risks. For implant surgery these include infection, bleeding, nerve disturbance, sinus complications (upper jaw), implant failure, prosthetic complications and the need for revision treatment. Risks are discussed individually before consent. You may wish to obtain a second opinion from another appropriately qualified practitioner.
