Considering full-arch

Who may be suitable for All on X

All on X is one of several treatment options for missing teeth. It is most commonly considered by patients in the following situations.

📂

Struggling with full dentures

For patients currently using removable dentures who are seeking a fixed, more stable alternative. Suitability depends on bone condition, general health and individual goals — assessed at consultation.

🧹

Missing most or all teeth in one or both jaws

For people missing most or all natural teeth in the upper, lower or both jaws. Other treatment options — including conventional dentures and individual implants — will also be discussed.

🔌

Loose, damaged or failing teeth

For patients whose remaining teeth are loose, damaged or failing due to advanced decay, gum disease or trauma, where extractions may be clinically indicated.

All on X is not suitable for everyone. Suitability and the most appropriate treatment for your situation are determined after a clinical assessment, which includes 3D imagery at the diagnostic stage and review of your medical and dental history.

Things to consider

Three things worth understanding before you book.

Most people considering full-arch implants want to understand what's actually involved. The information below is general and not a substitute for individual clinical advice.

Treatment basics [Clinical illustration placeholder]

What All on X actually involves.

The treatment uses four titanium implants placed into the jawbone to support a fixed bridge of teeth. The two posterior implants are angled to make use of available bone, which can reduce the need for bone grafting in some cases. Outcomes depend on individual factors including bone quality, oral hygiene and general health.

Recovery realities [Clinical illustration placeholder]

What recovery typically looks like.

Some swelling and discomfort is normal for several days following surgery, generally managed with prescribed medication. A soft-food diet is required during the integration phase (usually 6–8 weeks). Final teeth are typically fitted at 4–6 months. Recovery time and experience vary between individuals.

Risks & considerations [Clinical illustration placeholder]

Risks you should know about.

All surgical procedures carry risks. For implant treatment these can include infection, bleeding, nerve disturbance, sinus complications, implant failure or the need for revision treatment. Risks specific to your situation will be explained at consultation. You may wish to seek a second opinion before proceeding.

Treatment timeline

Your surgery week and beyond.

After your complimentary consultation and paid diagnostics stage, the treatment itself happens across three consecutive days, with an optional zirconia upgrade 3–6 months later. Individual timing varies based on clinical factors.

1
Day 1 · Surgery day

Implants placed.

Dental implants are placed under IV sedation or general anaesthetic. Any remaining non-viable teeth in the jaw are removed. Driving is not permitted for 24 hours after sedation, so a support person is required.

2
Day 2 · Trial Smile Fitting (Prototype)

Your prototype try-in.

A prototype is tried in so you can see and approve the shape, size and colour of your new smile before the acrylic is finalised. Any adjustments are discussed at this stage.

3
Day 3 · Acrylic Teeth Fitting

Your final acrylic teeth fitted.

Your acrylic teeth are finalised and fitted. For patients staying with acrylic, this is your functional long-term smile ($19,000 per jaw). A 4-week review follows, covering oral hygiene and nightguard instructions.

4
3–6 months later · Zirconia Fitting (if applicable)

Optional zirconia upgrade.

Zirconia is an optional upgrade from acrylic ($25,000 per jaw), fitted across 2–3 additional appointments: first try-in, second try-in, then final permanent insert. Long-term maintenance includes a 6-month clean and a 2-year deep clean if required.

Common questions

Information about the procedure.

What about pain or discomfort?

The procedure is performed under IV sedation or general anaesthetic. Some swelling and discomfort post-operatively is normal and is generally managed with prescribed medication. Pain experience is individual and varies between people.

How long until I can eat normally?

A soft-food diet is generally required for 6–8 weeks following your Day 3 acrylic teeth fitting, while implants integrate with bone. Most people are then able to gradually return to a wider range of foods, subject to clinical advice.

How will the teeth look?

Final teeth are designed by the prosthodontic team to suit your individual features. Aesthetic outcome is discussed at the planning stage; expectations should be set during the consultation, not based on images of other patients.

How long do they last?

Published clinical evidence supports good long-term outcomes for many patients with appropriate care. The bridge of teeth typically requires periodic review and may need replacement over time. Long-term outcome is not guaranteed and depends on individual factors.

What does it cost?

Indicative pricing is $19,000 per jaw for acrylic teeth or $25,000 per jaw for zirconia teeth. Treatment costs vary depending on clinical needs, materials selected and complexity, and are confirmed in a written quote after consultation.

What are the risks?

All surgical procedures carry risks. For implant surgery these include infection, bleeding, nerve disturbance, sinus complications, implant failure or the need for revision treatment. Risks are explained in detail before consent. You may wish to obtain a second opinion from another appropriately qualified practitioner.
